Welcome to Sue Ennis Artist

I came to art by chance. Here's the story of how I came to be an artist:

For many years, I  worked as an investment advisor/stockbroker. One day, a colleague invited me to sign up for  a weekend-long  art workshop being run by his wife. Even though I had no art training whatsoever, I agreed to try it out as it sounded like something different to experience. Little did I know that this experience would become a "tipping point" in my life. The instructor introduced us to dozens of different paints in wonderful colours and textures, and we were encouraged to just "play" with the materials. I was transported to a different place! I  found that hours flew by in an instant. I felt so energized by using broad brushstrokes of colour , and watched as paint dripped down the surface of the canvas. The whole process was deeply satisfying, (even though I was not able to paint anything overly recognizable), but it was the sensory feeling of being immersed in colour that really appealed to me. A short time later, I quit my financial services career to follow my heart into  art. So I became an artist by chance, but I stay an artist by choice.

Colour is my morning coffee! It wakes me up. It energizes me. So even though I paint in different mediums and styles, what unites all of it is colour!

I am located in Toronto, Ontario. I am an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists. My work has appeared in many juried shows including Toronto Art Expo, Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, Arta Gallery, Millcroft Inn, Glenhyrst Gallery of Brant, and Headwaters Arts Festival. It has been featured in Toronto Home Magazine, and in Adore Home online magazine.
