My Approach to the Painting Process
Colour is always the first decision I make when I start a painting, and my style is abstract art , loosely based on nature. I do not paint from photos or en plein air, but from my memories of places visited or the feeling evoked by them. I start with a palette of 3-4 colours and then start applying them to the canvas and observe carefully what comes up for me as I paint, watching for shapes to emerge, ideas to percolate, and intuition to guide my hand. After some time, I find myself immersed in a state of flow, where I have become unaware of what is going on around me, and all distractions and sense of time floats away.
